“45 pounds will always be 45 pounds”– Henry Rollins
For those that haven’t, I highly recommend reading “The Iron and the Soul” by Henry Rollins. It is a great primer for the topic today.
Iron and the Soul
Weightlifting should be a part of every man’s routine. There is something primal about lifting objects that weren’t meant to be lifted. Numerous studies have shown the positive effects of weightlifting. I encourage you to do more research if these benefits interest you:
- Increased Bone Density
- Increased Testosterone
- Increased Flexibility
- Improved Posture
- Better Sleep
- Increased Mood
- Increased Attractiveness
You get the point.
In addition, it is a sure fire way to build discipline. When you get up at 5am for 400lb squats, anything after that seems minuscule in comparison.
Lifting weights is one of my “Non-Negotiables” when it comes to achieving the “High Value Man” status (HVM). Our Heroes today, all symbolize strength both mentally and physically. There is a reason for this.
For others to take you seriously, you must take yourself seriously first. This includes your health and the canvas you are presenting to the world. Get your ass in the gym. Put in the work. Reap the rewards.
I am planning on a detailed series that involves the fundamentals of strength training. This includes common mistakes to avoid and tips to help start you on your journey.
